EYE CUE
style: pop/rock
“Eye Cue” is a Macedonian band formed in 2001. The idea to form a cover band which would later be named as Eye Cue was first initiated by Branko Gusic - Huso (Sidewalk). In its first phase as a four-piece band, Eye Cue was fronted by Iskra Srbinovska – vocals, Bojan Trajkovski – guitar, Ivan Sarievski – bass and Branko Gusic – Huso- drums. The band played as a four-piece for only 6 months. Huso left for Bosnia to focus on a career as a basketball player. He was replaced by Bojan Perevski – Pere who was a member of the band for only 6 months and because of pursuits of other interests, he too left the band. Ivo Mitkovski, who was the band mate of Ivan Sarievski of the then popular “Mail Box”, was recruited as a permanent drummer in Eye Cue, after which the issue of replacement was no longer relevant.
Over the next three years, the band continuously appeared in numerous cover gigs all over Macedonia, having no ambitions to make its own music.
After the band started working with the theatrical producer Bojan Perin, the long-standing urge to make their own music slowly began to materialise. With the appearance at the “Rock cafe” 1 and 2 festivals, the first demo versions of the current hits “Magija” and “Ne luti se covece” were born with female vocal interpretation. Not long after that, Iskra Srbinovska decided to leave the band due to personal and irreconcilable differences with the other band members. Bojan, Sare and Ivo used these expected and unexpected events as fervent motivation and uncompromising effort to succeed in the realisation of their own musical project.
After a year-long unsuccessful search for an adequate replacement for Iskra, the band began to play cover gigs as a trio. During that entire period, it becomes clear that the backbone of the band have always been Bojan, Sare and Ivo.
In the winter 2007 “Eye Cue” began collaborating with the renowned Macedonian producer Valentino Skenderovski. After only a few months, the band started working on its first studio album “Superstar Wannabe” in the “Enterprise” studio. The traditional problem on the Macedonian music scene stems from materialistic nature and it induced the band to, while recording the album, work tirelessly and it acquired prominence and fans on the club scene in Skopje and throughout the country. Aside from the late night gigs, Bojan, Sare and Ivo regularly gave guitar lessons in the rock ‘n’ roll school “Enterprise” owned by Valentino Skenderovski. In May 2008, the first single “Magija” was released which is the first product of the collaboration with Valentino, and the video for the single was directed by Svetozar Ristovski.
Five months after the release of the first single “Magija”, the band released a second hit single along with a video, which carries the name of Eye Cue’s first studio album “Superstar Wannabe”.
In December 2008 “Eye Cue” ended their two-year collaboration with the producer Valentino Skenderovski and they finished recording their album in the studio owned by Evgenij Karevski – Geni. The concert promotion of the album took place in June 2009, which included the video for the band’s third single “Glowing Lips”. The album promotion marked the end of an assiduous and emotional period, during which it was completed. The album is published by “Eye Cue”. After the initial presentation of the album, the band played several gigs across Macedonia to promote the album and it took part in several local renowned festivals. The band is currently working on the preparation of songs for their second studio album.
